The food here is always delicious and they never disappoint. The servers are always friendly as well. Been coming here for many years and so glad they made it through the pandemic. I even did take out throughout the pandemic. Went for take out today and the order was ready in no time. My fave items are the agadashi tofu, chicken karage, and the shiro tan tan min deluxe. I also enjoy the fact that they always have old school jazz records on the walls and in the background music. Every one that I've taken there ends up becoming a big fan.
I've been coming here for years and have always loved the food and relaxing, jazzy atmosphere. The service is consistently pleasant and friendly. They have vegetarian broth options and a great salmon fried rice for those who don't feel like ramen. If you're looking for a casual, welcoming experience this is the place!

Himawari is a go-to restaurant in San Mateo and arguably one of the best restaurants in the area. The ramen is of consistently good quality, and the unagidon bowl, which I got this time around, was delicious and super cheap compared to eel rice bowls elsewhere. The service is always super fast and the wait staff is accommodating. There is sometimes a short wait as the restaurant is always busy but the wait goes by fast!
